Brooklyn Bakehouse
House Brioche French Toast
They bake their own brioche. This matters more than any other single factor.
The bread arrived as two substantial slices with a proper crust and an interior that had absorbed the custard without surrendering its structure. The eggy richness of good brioche paired with the vanilla-forward custard created the kind of redundancy that worksβlike wearing a belt and suspenders when your pants actually need both.
The caramelization was textbook. The maple syrup was good quality but ultimately unnecessary. This french toast worked without enhancement.
Sixteen dollars. High, but defensible when the bread is made in-house that morning. The coffee was excellent and they didn't rush the table.
Would return and probably will.
